Knowing By Perceiving,

Millar has written a treasured monograph on perceptual expertise. Knowing By Perceiving is cautious and detailed, at instances laborious, handing over many insights. Occasionally S sees an F, and there’s a piece of Ψing and Φing, however some of the examples have a pleasantly bucolic feel: wheelbarrows complete of soil, night daylight on a hillside, mushrooms on rotting logs, frost at the grass, and ‘an island in which there are sheep that make a one-of-a-kind bleating sound’ (p. 161; all web page references are to this book).
